I would suggest to consider the 4500 or the higher models, but much of this
depends on your 3 to 5 year plans. If two years from now you are pitching
additional applications, you might get shown the door if you also have to
upgrade their switches and infrastructure. You might want to discuss the 3
to 5 year plans w/ the customer.
High availability, fail over etc ... probably a few other things to
consider. Adding modules for upgrades and new apps ...? There is a bit too
much to write in an email. There is certainly a reason for a modular versus
fixed configuration switch. Ask your SE about bundles and other ways to
lower the costs.
If you are a partner, you may gain from the design and suggestions from the
partner central, these are not too bad and often a place to start:
