I cannot lab this up now ... but this is an interesting question. Hopefully
tomorrow night I can get a chance ... I will not be able to test this till
then though.
Part of me was asking "why?". Then I thought about the need for having a
non-default-route route. The best example I had, was that BGP cannot learn
of it's neighbor through a default router. Ok this makes more sense now ...
Anyone else come up with a good requirement for having a non-default-route?
So with this said ...
Important to note ... you cannot have type 5 LSAs in a nssa. Just not
allowed ... basic rule. So no getting type 5s into this nssa. This is why
we have these type 7 LSAs in a nssa area ... so there is no way to make
this work using the nssa functionality. Type 5s are simply not allowed.
Can you do extra things like use a static, or create a tunnel and introduce
additional networks?
Can you use the area-range command for the loopback and also generate a
summary route for all the other routes? Humm ... I need to test this, but
will not be able to till tomorrow. Also, this is not route summarization
since you would be configuring an exact match for the remote loopback ...
Can you change and inject a type 5 into a nssa with the area-range command?
I do not know (yet) ... I need to test it.
Would love to hear some others thoughts. Thanks Reni for the interesting
question. Have a good night,
Andrew
