I'm a big fan of copying the startup config to flash at the beginning
of the lab. That way, in the middle, if you're scratching your head
and looking to point fingers it's as easy as doing a 'more' on the
file in flash. I found that the amount of time it takes to skim the
configs and save them to flash (5 minutes) was less time it would take
to troubleshoot it. The things they change (minus ip addresses) will
stick out much more before I add my garbage to the configuration.
Remember the responsible thing to do is to delete the file after
you're done, however.
