Hi Raghav,
Over the top off my head, here is a quick one
For Ques 1 - Have you configured R-6 as the RP ? if you are using
sparse-mode you should have the ip pim auto-rp listener command on
R-6, as well as on other routers in the multicast domain.Could you
post your configs for R6, R2 and R5.
For Ques 2 - R3 will not have the entries for 224.0.1.39, since it has
not been configured as a MA(which I presume). 224.0.1.39 is the group
which a router listens on when it is configured as a MA.
For ques 3 - The command that you said will send the RP announcements
i.e to the group address 224.0.1.39 with a source address of the
loopback0 interface. If you have sparse-mode on F0/0 , the router
checks to see if the auto-rp listener command is enabled , if not it
will not be able to send the announcements. The interface will not know
that it has to send the announcement, you have enabled it to send the
announcement using the command ip pim send-rp-announce through all pim
enabled interfaces.
Lastly, come on man!! its just been 1 hour that you posted your
question..why so anxious ;-)
HTH,
Ravi
