RE: MPLS Query.

We are doing something like that here at our NOC. We are using VRF lite and
have several of our clients coming into our HQ. The router has a Gig inteface
that is configured with sub-interfaces with 802.1Q for each client and cabled
to trunk port on one of our switches. From there we have a monitoring station
for each client that is plugged into an access port with the VLAN that
represents that client. So each monitoring station is own it's own network.
Works really well for us.

Lloyd

Hi Mike,

I came across the same problem a couple of years back, with the network
monitoring devices in the global routing table, and client routers in
each separate VRF.

The first solution I tried was leaking the global table (via route map
and prefix lists) into a management VRF. Initially it appeared to work,
however upon further testing, not all the routes were in the table.
There are certainly some caveats that I could not work around.

The solution that worked for me was to install a network management
router (1841) with 4 port switch module between the NMS devices and the
PE. One interface was trunked to the PE port, with a VLAN assigned for
client (i.e. VRF management traffic) and another VLAN for core (i.e.
global management traffic). Routes were propagated using eBGP, and the
global routing table of the 1841 had access to all management devices.

regards Andy
