Both the commands will hold the same effect.
subnets will be used for no summarisation of the networks that you want to
summarize.
metric type 1 will be used to add the link cost incrementally as the rip route
traverse thru the network.

Can someone explain the difference when redistributing RIP into OSPF the
effect that it would have using the following two commands? Basically, I have
swapped the keyword SUBNETS with metric-type
R2(config-router)#redistribute rip subnets metric-type 1
R2(config-router)#redistribute rip metric-type 1 subnets
