Bobby,
Among other things, pursuing the CCIE would be worthwhile to your person if
you have the passion for it.

As Actuaries say "It takes one to know one." I have come to believe same
with the CCIE certification program.

Besides, there are other benefits a channel partner can gain for having even
a single CCIE on board, even if they remain premier.

I am a double CCIE that works for a Cisco premier partner. We actually don't
need Silver partner status as we are rated Cisco Tier-1 (we buy directly
from Cisco, not through distributors), and we enjoy as much 42-45% discounts
on most of our deals.

Our clients love to have me as the SE deploying solutions for them as they
trust and know I won't fail them. When doing presales/consulting, customers
tend to believe me more than others. This reputation/image thing is what
contributes to the business opportunities. Maybe your bosses have that in
mind.

(The advantages of having a CCIE consultant for my company also lies in the
fact that I am the only person certified under the program in my country.
Things may not play 100% same for your company).
