Not sure I fully understand your problem.

You are located on the LAN and are accessing the WAN (etrade servers)?
Sounds fairly basic. You need your router, NAT if translating, DNS, etc
... set up correctly. If the command line is not making sense, have you
tried the CCP or CNA tools? These tools make it easy for branch office
configs ... of course they are not avail in the lab ;-)

Maybe I misunderstood your email, but your problem sounds fairly basic.
