Normally, you can use match criteria for valid values for the protocol you are redistributing *FROM*, therefore AS_PATH is a valid option here.
Seems like they might have mentioned a bug then.

Just curious, are you using 12.4.23 or 12.4.23T?

In the IPExpert Proctor Guide (Volume 1 Section 12 Task 12.25), it says
that you cannot use an as-path list to match on when using it to
redistribute BGP into RIP, but it seems to work for me. I'm just
curious if this is a bug or a fix. I'm running Version 12.4(23) on
2811's...

Here are portions of my config (R1 and R2 are RIP peers.):

R2

ip as-path access-list 1 permit ^$

route-map offset-bgp permit 10
 match as-path 1
 set metric 4
route-map offset-bgp permit 20
 set metric 9

router rip
 version 2
redistribute bgp 256 route-map offset-bgp
network 150.100.0.0
 no auto-summary

Here are two routes received from R2 on R1:

R 200.0.1.9 [120/9] via 150.100.12.2, 00:00:26, FastEthernet0/0
R 200.0.1.5 [120/4] via 150.100.12.2, 00:00:26, FastEthernet0/0

Thanks in advance,
Ron
