RE: STP access port start-up delay or intialization to

Scott,

Could I get you to weigh in on this? I'm having a hard time replicating the initialization blocking delay to achieve 20 + 15 + 15. In your audio CD, you said the value for blocking (20 seconds) cannot be changed. But you also said it's only when a port first comes online. Can you explain this scenario in a little more detail? To test I have shut ports down, left a port in shut after a reload, disconnected and reconnected a root port (allowing STP to converge), still listening + learning are the only states hold any bearing on forwarding (besides negotiation of the link etc).

The only one I haven't tried is a reload with a port disconnected and then plugged in back in. Also what wording might key you onto this type of question.

Thanks!

Subject: STP access port start-up delay or intialization to forwarding delay

Hello,

I was going through some of the ASET exams and I was wondering if someone
might have some insight on key word detection for an STP question. What
wording would key you into accounting for blocking time when taking a port
from <state described in question> to forwarding?

Thanks,

-ryan
