Yeah that is correct. I have 4x 3550's in my lab rack here at home and I
see the same issue on multiple switches going to multiple routers. some
routers are 26010 XM and some are 3640, all plain ethernet interfaces. Very
strange!

Also my experience was limited to one blade on the same chassis.

Your experience seems to be traversing switches - is this correct?

Emergency change control?

Joe,
Can you more the switch side connection to another port? If so, does
it do the same thing? Is there anything odd on the switch to nail the port
up? generic switch port config?

This is really freaking me out now...it's happening across multiple of my
3550's going to multiple routers of different platforms. Weird!

No, 3550 switch going to 2600 routers ethernet interfaces. reboot both
devices, no errors on either

I've seen this and it seems like it happened on failing equipment. I guess
you could change the IOS just in case.

But it might be the hardware.

Is this a 4006 by chance?

Thanks Ron, but this is live equipment...and is happening on several

So, am I losing my mind or what?! Anybody else experience this? I have R1
e0/0 connected to Cat1 fa0/1. On R1 I have shutdown the interface. I have
verified it shows as admin down a million times. On the switch side the
port still shows as "connected" and has a link light. Yes, I'm sure it is
the right device. WTF?!
