I tried this exercise using Dynamips just now
- get a raw router
- enable aaa "aaa new-model"
- saved config and restarted

I still have normal access to the console and have not been locked out

maybe this is just dynamips or maybe switches behave different from routers

I would appreciate it if someone provides more info from his experiences
