I agree. This won't matter if you are an expert in Cisco Routing and Switching, which you should be to get the credentials, right? This kind of crap shouldn't scare anyone. I say bring it on! If you can't handle these tasks then you shouldn't be a CCIE. The testing method is just cosmetics. It doesnbt matter as long as you know your subject.
Focus on the material and the rest will work itself out. Config Guides, Command References, labs, labs, labs...
Just my few cents...

Seriously, can we get back to topics that matter for candidates _who are scheduled to take exam_ or current CCIEs. When I signed up for this list, I thought that's what it was... Please remove the send button from your mail client.

Something they left out:
Candidates will be presented
with a series of trouble tickets for preconfigured networks, and they will
need to diagnose and resolve the network fault or faults a realistic and
challenging job task. Candidates who finish the troubleshooting section
early can move on to the configuration section, but they will not be allowed
to go back to the troubleshooting section, since their equipment will need
to be reinitialized for the configuration portion of the exam.
Read this carefully.... Very carefully.
Now imagine you get to your lab...
1. You manage to survice the OEQ.
2. You get to the troubleshooting section (of a network you did not
configure in the first place - just like work)...
3. You don't make the score....
4. You now are told sorry and shown the door and reminded not to miss you
flight back home.
Sorry guys - the truth hurts.
If you do not pass the pre-lab.... you will not set eyes on the new labs...
Cheating has been effectively nullified (at least for now).
