One more thing:
On the CCIE Recert every three years:
If a CCIE has "moved on" to bigger and better things...
Statistically it will increase the value of the actual current CCIE's to
reflect this fact.
This would be the single biggest initiative Cisco could make to increase the
value of the CCIE program.
1. It shows that the CCIE is the "MBA" of the IT World and that CCIE's do
move on to Design/Architecture/Management/Executive roles.
2. It would reflect the actual number of available CCIE's for hire and
available for work as CCIE's.
3. I think CCIE's who are trainers ought to have a desgnation as well. See
there are a lot of CCIE's who as work solely as trainers.
Now look at the numbers:
20,000 - Total Ever Certified
5000 - Decertified or not current
---------------------------------------------
15,000 - Total Active CCIE's
5000 - CCIE's who have been "promoted" and no longer available for hire as
a "CCIE doing the grunt work"
-------------------------------------------
10,000 - Truly available CCIE's
Hmm...
So if a CCIE was worth say 100,000.00 by HR based on the conception that
there were 20,000 available fish in the sea.
Now that CCIE is worh 100,000 + X since scarcity is now an issue.
Take away Cisco Employees.... and there may only be 3000 - 5000 available
CCIE's for actual employers in the world.
