I don't think it's the number of hours per week so much as the total
number of hours that really counts. We've found out that it takes about
400 to 600 hours of studying/practice labbing to pass a lab exam. That
doesn't mean if you do 100/hours a week, you'll only need four to six
weeks. Ideally, 20 to 30 hours of practice/study time a week for 20 to
30 weeks is probably a good rule of thumb. Of course it really depends
on your background and your skill set before you start the process. The
best approach is a well though out study plan that looks at the big
picture and helps put the pieces together in a methodical approach
(email me offlist for the approach I recommend).

Each individual has unique study requirements. Something that worked
for
somebody else may not work for you.
When I was studying for my CCIE, I spent about 2 hours per day at work
reading and about 5 hours per night during the week and about 12 hours
per
day during the weekend doing scenarios and practicing technologies on
equipment. That was consistent every day for about 9 months.
That comes out to about 1900 hours with my nose in a book and pounding a
keyboard.
The sacrifice paid off because I passed on my first attempt.

Subject: How many hours a week should I study?
Hi All,
I have a quick question. I am just starting out and putting my schedule
together. I would like to finish in 6 months and was wondering how many
hours a week should I set apart to study. I am currently targeting
about 30
a week but frankly am feeling like that might not be enough.
How many hours a week on average did everyone put in to get their #.
Thanks in advance.
PS. This is an amazing resource, thanks Paul.
