It depends on the OS. In windows there are memory limitations on a per
process basis. Even with windows 2008 server the limitation is there. I
tried it. Painful. I am running the IPExpert and InternetworkExpert labs
with no issues on Ubuntu. I actually run the dynamips processes (x2) on the
server and then I run GNS on the trusty old laptop. Response times are
excellent and securecrt works like a charm. I wouldn't recommend windows
unless you are just completely non-unix capable. Too much trouble and
inconsistancy no matter what flavor.

than 1 gig, I have to split them up among multiple servers. I don't know if
this varies among other OSes, but this is the rule of thumb I use.
