RE: IPexperts free core knowledge questions

Hey Guys,

You're right about Q2, Pavel - it should have read:

"Internal routers in which type of OSPF Area will not receive any Type 3
default LSAs
by default?"

I left out the second "default" (referring to the NSSA not receiving a Type
3 default route) and didn't catch that before the final release.

For Q6, I see your semantic interpretation of "range" vs "address" and
you're right, it should say "address" and I'll amend it. However, as per
your interpretation of the address, RFC 2453 - RIP Version 2 states:

4.5 Multicasting

In order to reduce unnecessary load on those hosts which are not
listening to RIP-2 messages, an IP multicast address will be used for
periodic broadcasts. The IP multicast address is 224.0.0.9.

http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2453.html

Finally, in Q8, I used the term "stub host" less precisely than I should
have, as that is how we commonly refer to the network type of the loopback
interface and it was the name of that behavior that I was seeking when
writing the question. I'll reword that and have the change added to the
update.

If anyone else has any other questions or feedback please email me directly.

Cheers,

Good start, but there are too many mistakes.
E.G.:
---------------------------------------------
Question 2: IGP Routing Protocols
Internal routers in which type of OSPF Area will not receive any Type 3 LSAs
by default?

Application says "NSSA", but in reality, it's Totally Stubby, and Totally
Not So Stubby
---------------------------------------------
Question 6: IGP Routing Protocols
Which multicast range does RIP Version 2 use?

Application says "224.0.0.9", but it is not "multicast range", but an
address. The correct address would be "Reserved"
From IANA:

The range of addresses between 224.0.0.0 and 224.0.0.255, inclusive,
is reserved for the use of routing protocols and other low-level
topology discovery or maintenance protocols

---------------------------------------------
Question 8: IGP Routing Protocols
Which OSPF network type is assigned to Loopback interfaces by default?

Application says "Stub Host", but in reality the network type is called
"Loopback", not stub host.
Router#sh ip ospf int
Loopback0 is up, line protocol is up
  Internet Address 1.1.1.1/32, Area 0
Process ID 1, Router ID 1.1.1.1, Network Type LOOPBACK, Cost: 1
Loopback interface is treated as a stub Host
Router#

---------------------------------------------

This is where I had to stop...
IPX Guys: you really need to work on precision and factual information.
