My apologies. For clarification, this is how I use the ip helper in a
production network. It was meant to add more detail to Dale's comment. Most
of the configurations I come across simply have a helper address turned on
without any additional configuration. I agree, as far as the lab is
concerned, configure exactly as requested with nothing additional. Don't
fall into the trap of configuration in the real world. Many of us have
specific ways of configuring features and when you do it on 500 or more
sites, it can be hard to break that habit in the lab.
I didn't mean to confuse the issue of this being needed, just a best
practice I use in production.
