No no .... not to bug you all this time .
This time I am mailing to you people .. to share my good news . I got my
longggg awaited number this time on 17th March . The number is 23863. Wow
.. what a feel
This time I am gonna write a big mail ( yeah something diff from my short
stupid questions and replies to this group)
I didnt took any shortcut towards this goal . CCNA , then CCIP , then CCIE .
Did my CCIE written on 31 Dec 2007 ( again .. wow ! what a day to choose ).
gave my 1st attempt on 16 Sep 2008 in Bangalore . Was 100 % sure that I have
got my number . After the exam ; I had called my mother and sister also that
I have made it !
But when the result came . I saw a FAIL over there . Was hard to accept that
but yes that was the fact . I got low on 2 sections and I accepted that .
Gathered all the courage and said to myself .. Gaurav ! 1 more time .. lets
do it !
I literally had no social life since I cleared my CCIE written . and
continuing the same after failure in lab ..... was a real tough decision .
And that too when u know that journey is not smooth ahead ! but i went and
straight away booked the date exactly 6 months away . 16 Sep ----> 17 March.
1 thing i need to tell u all .... i follow this grp very closely .. i talk
to myself a lot and always say to myself " gaurav ! if you can answer even
50 % of questions in your area .. u are making a improvement" . Yeah yeah !
my replies are not those many in number because i always wanna give 100 %
accurate reply :) In last 6 months i have realised that yes i was making
improvement .. atleast i could make sense what ppl are asking in grp and
what problems is faced in this particular scenario .
Regarding differences in 1st and 2nd attepmt .. what i did differently ...
hmm .... nothing much .....
But the approach was very diff .. At 1st attempt .. i was thinking what if i
fail .. what if i dont make .. will i still continue ? ... At 2nd attempt ;
my thinking was " if i fail this time ; i wil go ahead and buy diff vendor
material ..but i wont leave this in middle .. If I pass ; what track next :)

In 1st attempt ; I was labbing ; labbing ;labbing and labbing till the last
night as well .. On 2nd attempt ; I left my rack in last 2 days . I have
got a lot of my white paper notes which I have jotted down during this 1.3
years of practice ....i was giving 2 hr daily to these for last 10 days and
last 2 days was just revison . no labbing .
I was lucky to have a nice frnd circle with me who always keep on encoraging
me towards achieving the goal and i finally met their expectations .
1 advice .. dont stick to 1 vendor workbook and think you are done ! Keep
rotating .. yeah this will require some money but if possible do it !
The IEWB Mock Labs are wonderful . These give u an idea where u stand , Ppl
might say that the day matters ; mock lab dont .. But I dont agree to those
.
I mailed Anthony from IEWB after taking my mock lab and seeing a score of 60
over there and asking why my marks was unnecessarily deducted .. H e gave a
wonderful reason saying the last thing these ppl want is to give a wrong
self confidence to someone that they are doing good ! And I agree .. I
accepted that and worked really hard .
Anthony , Scott , Narbik , Jared ..... U ppl are real chaps .. sometimes i
wonder .. How many hours you ppl have in a day ? huh ? :)
Narbik ; your long posts in this grp are simply awesome .. i always save
them in my study folder . Keep on mailing them :)
I realy felt lucky whenever you guys replied to my queries .
For all the people working on CCIE .. Good Luck ! Dont leave it till you
achieve this .
