RSTP would be the standard (802.1w) and RPVST+ would the Cisco
implementation of it. The major difference I think would be that RPVST+
allows different topologies for each vlan. Configuration-wise, you enable
rapid-pvst+ to get the benefits of RSTP. Or you can use MST (802.1s) as
well.
