RE: EIGRP Default Route /w ip route 0.0.0.0/0 null0 + network

Larry,

Not quite clear on that :-( - in this scenario, the route to Null0 was entered
manually, no manual summarization is taking place and auto-summary is off.

That is, adding a 0.0.0.0/0 to null0 + using "network 0.0.0.0" originates
0.0.0.0/0 into AS 200.

..... not clear on how this comes about.

Thanks.

Eigrp automatically creates a route to a null0 (the bit bucket) whenever a
summary address is configured
to prevent routing loops.

Here is a link that explains this behavior:

Hi Experts,

why would EIGRP inject a 0.0.0.0/0 route with this configuration? I have

always been under the impression that the "network" statement (under EIGRP)
only enables interfaces for participation.

Is there any explanation for this?

EIGRP Default Route /w ip route 0.0.0.0/0 null0 + network 0.0.0.0

=============================

hostname AS200-1
!
interface FastEthernet0/2
 description To Router AS200-5
 ip address 10.1.3.1 255.255.255.0
!
router eigrp 200
 network 0.0.0.0
 no auto-summary

!
ip http server
no ip http secure-server
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Null0

=============================

AS200-5#r | i _0\.0\.0\.0
Gateway of last resort is 10.1.3.1 to network 0.0.0.0
D* 0.0.0.0/0 [90/28160] via 10.1.3.1, 00:13:26, FastEthernet0/2

=============================

Many Thanks.
