Currently I am working for same project of University .
You can use dual sup720 3C in one chassis but other module will be useless
and You can implement VSS 1440 between interchassis sup 720 3c as current
release 12.2(33)vSXH1 supports .
Keep in mind interchassis VSS 1440 only gives aggregate of 1.4 T and AFAIK
if one sup is failed Whole chassis line card will be down and bandwidth
capacity will reach to half of 1.4 that is 720G.
so main purpose of VSS is bandwidth capacity to 1.4 Tbps ,Only one gateway
IP address is required per VLAN, instead of the three IP addresses per VLAN
used today,Removes the need for HSRP, VRRP,GLBP , all links are in FWD.
interchassis Stateful Switchover , Nonstop Forwarding (NSF) to provide
nonstop communication even in the event of failure of one of the member
supervisor engines or chassis.
Most of the service modules are supported as it was not supporting in old
Release.
