I agree this is a nice idea (stopping braindumpers from seeing lab
content), and I can only assume the reason it hasn't been implemented
this way is down to logistics. It would mean the open-ended questions
needed to be assessed immediately, for all candidates -- a tough ask
for a single proctor. I guess some options would be:

- staggered start for candidates
- multiple proctors/assessors (not necessarily in the same physical
location) for open-ended questions
- candidates can move on to lab but be tapped on the shoulder later
("sorry, you cannot continue.")

None of these seem very feasible.

How did it work in China?

Having said that, I'd feel pretty ripped off if, as a legitimate
candidate, I didn't get to see the lab content after failing the
open-ended question section. At least some of the battle is knowing
what to expect when your big day finally arrives.

Maybe they could let you get to lunch, then pull you aside and give
you the bad news ("I regret to inform you that you're not going back
in.."). Haha, now I'm just being cruel.

cheers,
Dale
