Hey Jeffrey,
Most of the extra topics you mentioned (besides PPPoE) are only in the
written rather than the lab. As such I'd recommend focussing your textbook
reading on MPLS and BGP (the books you mentioned are good, if they are the
same Cisco Press books I used). Also read Internet Routing Architectures (if
you haven't already) by Sam Halabi and IP Routing Protocols 2nd Ed by Jeff
Doyle.
Most of the other information you need for SP you can find on the Cisco
website - it's probably your best resource. Just go through each blueprint
topic, copy and paste it into google (using site:cisco.com) then read the
examples from Cisco's website. When it comes to doing lab prep for SP,
knowledge of the documentation is probably the strongest tool you have
available (as well as vendor workbooks and bootcamps if you have the
time/money for them).
Unlike first time CCIE's, the upgrade path to SP is generally a matter of
extending knowledge you already have, so the journey isn't as difficult.
Good luck. :)
Cheers,

Subject: Alright....ready to get back into it....
It has been 6+ months since I passed my RS and now I am ready to make the
jump into the Service Provider realm. I have the 3 Cisco Press MPLS books
and am reading them, will be taking a simple MPLS week long course to brush
up and begin looking at labing up again. But for the other things on the
Blue Print such as IOS-XR, general ISP practices, PPOE.things you can't
exactly lab up at home, does anyone have a suggestions as to authors, books
or general ideas to work around some of the constraints that this lab puts
on a person? I don't work for an ISP, so access to some of these things
will be tough.
I love the MPLS and BGP, so I really like this track, but I know there is
more to it than these protocols. Looks for some insight from those who are
studying for it and those who have passed.
Thanks,
Jeffrey Biggs
