Re: Open-Ended Questions Delivered in Written Format

I have seen many posts here and on our blog about this topic - and I
wanted to post a couple more observations to the community based on
those questions or comments...

1 - Are the questions going to be multiple-choice?
Errr - no. It is too tough/impossible to make the questions open-ended
and multiple choice. Nice try though ;-) It is my guess the computer
form will have a short answer box for each question.

2 - Since it is computer based - it will just be "braindumped", thus
accomplishing nothing.
Well, I disagree here - as long as Cisco gets it right. I sat down to
write some sample open-ended questions the day this story broke, and I
had 10 in less than 5 minutes. There is a TREMENDOUS possible pool
here that Cisco can create, and ensuring they pull randomly from it,
and periodically modify it, we should be in a pretty "dump free" type
situation. Let's certainly hope.

3 - This is totally unfair.
Since it is not a blueprint change, I guess Cisco is off the hook when
it comes to the complaint regarding 6 months notice. The 6 months
notice thing, as far as I have always heard, is for a blueprint
change. They made it pretty clear in their announcement that if you
are prepared for the configuration portion, this open-ended portion is
no problem. I say we trust them, do not let this distract us, and
continue to take joy in the pursuit of the CCIE. If you are still
really mad and simply do not want to face this, you could always
switch tracks immediately. ;-)

Happy, happy studying GS! As always we are waiting to help you - never
feel alone in this challenging pursuit.
