Hi Nit,
I don't think so, because this is kind of best practise, even Cisco uses in
the Example the Loopbacks:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/ipmulti/configuration/guide/imc_basic_cf
g_ps6350_TSD_Products_Configuration_Guide_Chapter.html#wp1055157
I would always use the loopback if nothing else is mentioned, furthermore
you don't get penalized for overconfiguration.
Something to mention here which I think should be done (I might be wrong):
If you use sparse-dense mode and configure Auto-RP, I would configure the
loopback only as sparse mode, there is really no need to configure it as
sparse-dense.
regards
Roger

Betreff: Multicast - Enabling PIM
Hi All,
When configuring C-RP & MA, most of the time, we are using LoopBack for the
C-RP's announcement and MA 's discovery.
If the task specifys only enabling PIM on the serials and fastethernets,
WITHOUT 'EXPLICTLY" stating enabling PIM
on loopback, will i be penalised if i 'enable pim' on loopback and use it
for
C-RP and MA?
Cheers
Nit
