Quality vs. Quantity.
Fix the CCIE program or abandon it.
1. Proper ID Methods.
2. Large Question Banks (randomized).
3. Interview the Candidates.
4. Physical Tasks - Cabling/Subnetting/Diagramming
5. Vary the exams. Change the variables. Cheaters will have a hard time with
this. Real CCIE Candidates won't notice.
6. CCIE Lab Forensics - All CCIE's using the same or similar named Variables
should be scrutinized. The numbers will drop overnight but the exam
integrity and reputation will remain intact.
7. Re-test all current CCIE's. Yes this is costly but the entire program has
been compromised. The labs are in the wild and many places on the Internet
offer demos with the real lab toplogies and say 20 pages of explanations of
80 pages.
8. Go after the bad guys. They are not hard to find. They are same guys
using the same names across the globe. They advertise. Follow the money. Pay
once and bust them and get it over with. Rewrite the labs and start from
scratch.
9. Check for CCIE's who broke the NDA. There are lists. Prune the flock.
They broke the agreement. Break the contract per the contractual
obligations.
10. Does Cisco need help finding CCIE's who broke their NDA contractual
obligations?
11. Require CCIE's attend one class for the CCIE Written, one class for the
CCIE Lab Theory for 2 Weeks, and at least one class with CCIE Mock Labs
completed at 75% or better prior to attempting the CCIE Lab from a Cisco
Authorized Partner using the new Cisco 360 Program.
No class - no lab attempt.
Now watch the CCIE Numbers on a per country basis. If the numbers are true
and there are deserving candidates who truly have the skills of a CCIE then
the statistics will not change.
If they do change, then it is time to scrap the baby and the bathwater and
start over.
One person aptly said a CCIE is a becoming a symbol of a cheater and that
person's number in line to get it. This discredits those who actually worked
hard to earn their credentials.
Brad there are a lot of cheaters out there. A lot of them. It's a shame the
CCIE Lab has been compromised but people do a lot just to get a buck.
