BGP Dampening

Hi,

If i want to configure dampening for a specific route in bgp table, i will
create a route-map match that prefix and then in bgp router mode i will
configure "bgp dampening route-map xyz". Can i get the same result if i
configure like

route-map DAMP
set dampening x x x x x

router bgp 100
net x.x.x.x x.x.x.x route DAMP

If yes then when one method will be used and when other?
