All...
I've read the discussions held in the past about 12.2(44)SE supporting IPv6
on the 3550. I'm running 12.2(44)SE3 on my 3550s, with
"ipv6 unicast-routing" configured and I'm still not having much luck. You
can configure everything.... and it will even ping it's own
ipv6 interface addresses, but when you try to ping the IPv6 address of a
device plugged into it -no luck. Has anyone out there
actually had luck with it?
Here's the scenario: I plugged a router into the 3550 and configured IPv6 on
both devices. The port the router was
plugged into was in vlan 10 so I created a vlan interface for 10 and gave it
an IP address within the subnet range
of the ipv6 address of the router. From the 3550 I can ping the vlan 10
interface's ipv6 address, but not the ipv6 address
of the router. When I run debug ipv6 nd and debug ipv6 packet you can see
the 3550 sending out neighbor discovery messages
to attempt L3-L2 resolution, but it never gets a reply from the router and I
don't see any debug output from the router indicating that
it's receiving the ND messages from the switch.
Now... here's the weird thing. While running these debug messages I can see
the 3550 send out ipv6 Router Advertisements... and
in the debug output on the router I can see that the router is receiving
them. So... the router is not receiving the ND messages from the
3550, but it's receiving the RA messages. This has got to be a case om me
overlooking something.
Any ideas?
Thanks and Happy new year to all,
Mod....
