Absolutely. And as a side note, I'd leave "debug ip routing" turned on
through the rest of the day. It can be a quick indicator to things getting
messed up (like when you add ACLs!).

It depends on you too.
Ping scripts will tell you something may be wrong.
I used a tcl script to test route presence on every router, which was more
complicated to prepare but gave more visibility to what was wrong.
I just knew how to do it in case I run into some trouble (those pesty
redistributions which route instabilities).
debug ip routing was a nice complement.
