Hi Syed,
The easiest method is probably to use Narbik's suggestion of configuring VTP
settings which are not consistent with your other switches:
1) shutdown your trunk ports
2) then delete your vlan.dat file & startup configuration
3) and then set a VTP domain to be unique (or change to transparent mode)
4) reload
If you shutdown the ports after deleting the vlan.dat, there is a posibility
that VTP will relearn the VLAN information whilst you are disabling the
ports.
Making VTP changes (e.g. settting a unique domain) after deleting the
vlan.dat file ensures that this file still exists at bootup. If you delete
the vlan.dat and the startup configuration & then immediately reload, all
VTP and config settings will be at their defaults when the switch comes back
up - so it will be in VTP server mode and will re learn VLANs using VTP.
Setting a switch to transparent mode adds configuration lines to both the
running config and the vlan.dat file. The switch will stay in transparent
mode if you delete any one of these and reload, but not if you delete both
and reload.
Paul.
