Dear Arunas, i havent tried junos on Qemu but i am currently using it on VMWARE and multicast works just fine. the patch is out there, we need to get it in the olive and multicast will work. And Nasim bhai, beaware that you cant use olive of JNCIE-ER, why ?? because L2/L3 services wont work with olive. I tried Firewall filters and they worked just perfectly, but when you configured a stateful firewall and try to apply on the interface it will give you an error saying service cant be applied on local RE interfaces. The issue is i dont have any fp interfaces in the vmware image i got so just hoping that its because of it. Using qemu you can get fxp interfaces no doubt but i am not sure that whether services will still work or not. Anyone who has used olive before might want to shed some light on this issue ??

i would recommend third option:

3- JUNOS on Qemu.

why? because you can any network card and run multicast.

with junos on vmware you can not run multicast.
with junos on freebsd you can use only "selected" network cards
