JNCIE-M was the only one available at the time I was involved with it. The
J-series (now called ER-Series) was just starting in the certification
tracks. My focus had been more service provider than enterprise anyway.
There's not much reason I couldn't go get the JNCIE-ER other than time! :)
Many technologies are the same, but the security stuff and CoS stuff wasn't
a focus in the M-series exam. Likewise, if you're looking at the ER-series
exams, MPLS isn't much a focus there or IS-IS routing protocol.
Just different. :) The value depends on where you are at and what you
wannt to be doing. Each can be equally valuable in the right situation.

How would you guys rate the value of the JNCIE-ER vs. JNCIE-M?
I know it would depend a lot with one's job role (or intended one in the
future) enterprise vs. SP......but nevertheless as per the current market
out there......which one if more valuable?
Like Scott you went for JNCIE-M....was there a particular reason for
that...or perhaps that was the only track available back then? :)

The M-series has a JNCIP lab exam prereq. The JNCIS is much like the CCIE
Written qualifier except (stirring up the recent conversation) you actually
get a cert for it. :)
In the ER series, there is JNCIA, JNCIS and JNCIE only.

Hi Nasim
JNCIE-ER certification would be a great feat.
However, I believe you are already aware that, unlike the Cisco CCIE, the
Juniper expert track has prerequisites (JNCIS and the JNCIP).
Go for it if you do deploy Juniper boxes in your job.
