Netscout bought Network General earlier this year.
The Netscout probes are good for everything but sniffing where they lack. They have promised to integrate the sniffer cababilities but have not as of yet. We put probes at key places and feed netflow data to Netscout collectors at all CE routers that don't have probes. The combination works well.

NetScout is great, however it's pricey...especially if you are looking at monitoring 10-GB links. Network General Sniffer has a product similar as well, equally expensive but well worth the money if you have it and have a need for detailed traffic monitoring.
I have Nam's in all my 6500's and I'm satisfied, it provides "most" of what I need. CW2K is good too as well as SolarWinds but our netscout implementation is the mainstay. We also use NETMRI for our overall management of our infrastructure, but for detailed inline traffic inspection netscout or the sniffer product is where it's at.
