I asked the same guy, when would you enable spanning tree portfast on ports
connected between two switches. He rightly said you should not do that. I
asked why and he could not answer it. These were some of the basic questions.
Trust me I did not go hard at him.

Sorry Joseph, but this is not CCIE-related.
One of the Cisco courses I teach is CAT6KS, or "Catalyst 6500 Implementation
for Data Center Buss. Solut." So I could easily answer those questions waken
up at 5am after alcohol-heavy party.
CCIE never teaches you hardware architecture, which the course I mentioned
does.
From my experience, questions asked only represent the knowledge of the
subject pertaining to the questions asked.
If I asked you a question "In the output of "show bootvar" command, what does
the number after IOS image mean? e.g. "c2800nm-advipservicesk9-mz.124-8.bin,2"
would you know the answer exactly that instance? And how much about you would
that tell me?

They were really really good technical interviews!!!
I was so impressed with the interviews I knew they were serious. I felt
challenged and required before we even talked money...
