Re: ACE Routing vs Bridge

There are limitations in Routed mode (static routing only as well as does
not allow multicast routing) that would dictate the use of bridge mode over
routed. The main reason to use bridged instead of routed would be the
requirement of allowing multicast routing or IGP routing protocols to
support dynamic routing as well as some others like WAAS wishing to be layer
2 away from your routing domain and load balance them. As other have stated
there are other limitations and considerations with using bridged mode that
routed fit better for.

So think about what your objective is, how it will impact your deployment,
where this design is going to be deployed etc. Also you can technically
deploy the ACE module in both routed and bridged when using contexts and
setting up your BVI's and VLAN configurations within the ACE admin
context. This was also available on the CSM but now they allow for the
dedication of the contexts within the ACE platform.
