I am afraid it is the disassociation of intelligence *from *politics that
has placed us in our current situation. Socialism is disdained by Americans
because it embodies the breeding ground for tyranny our Founding Fathers
worked to avoid - at one time our public school system taught respect for
those men. Socialism infers that instead of providing for yourself, you are
provided for. We have drifted towards a socialistic economic model because
the moral principles upon which freedom and truth stand are being blown
apart - with thunderous applause from the majority of Americans. For the
government to attempt to fix the symptoms of these problems is like using
cheese cloth to patch a sinking ship. At one time, there was a man who
understood this. If you don't recognize the following quote, please turn in
your social-security card at the voting booth (providing you have one of
course - though I'm told this doesn't matter so much any more).

"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity,
religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man
claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great
pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and
citizens."
