One statement does not logically follow the other. Price and value are two
distinctly different things.
By the logic you lay out, Storage should be the most sought after CCIE track
there is, as it is likely the most expensive one to play with. I'm sure
there are some partners, or Joseph's favorite financial district folks that
will pay a REALLY pretty penny for a CCIE Storage, but that alone doesn't
drive the value.
People do. With R&S as an example. Despite the fact that you can emulate
routers, and therefore many people can play around with the stuff. Despite
the fact that there are going on 20,000'ish of them (you were one, weren't
you?), that doesn't decrease the value. Amazingly enough, everything needs
to connect to some infrastructure which is routed and/or switched at some
point. Therefore that should have the most intrinsic value.
Just my thoughts. Wireless will be cool. no doubt. And those who know how
it works and play around enough with the Cisco products will likely do well.
I'm not sure AirMagnet would be necessary, although fun. Personally I like
the BVI and Fluke products better, but that's just me. In an 8-hour lab
scenario, theres only so much wandering around and testing you are going to
be able to do.
Once you've configured one AP, you can configure any of them in "heavy"
mode. You'll need to know the difference in the radio types from theory,
but there's not a huge amount of configuration difference. If you've ever
seen/touched/looked at a 1250N, you'll note the difference pretty quick.
Not everyone will need to own one in order to "experience" it.
Just my two cents. Good luck with the track though, it should be fun!

Hello Team,
CCIE Wirless will be the most valuable certification in the future, as I am
predicting... The expense of the hardware will make it the most valuable of
all. You will not be able to use dynagins and router simulator for the
wireless controllers I dont believe, also you will need to purchase site
survery equipment such as airmagnet, which is not cheap, as well as the
cisco spectrum, the cisco 1250N aps aren't inexpensive either. N will be
standardized in May of next year, and we will start to see LAN
infrastructure being replaced by APS and wireless in the corporation, I am
in charge of deploying it for my organization, and there is much work
involved. I think you will need a lot of practical experience, I am
fortunate as my company being able to provide the equipment. But I don't see
this as affordable as the other tracks, thus making it more exclusive. Just
my .02 cents.
Sincerely,
John

I haven't even heard it. There's no recording available yet and I had to
turn down the volume during my question. I did get Kathe and David to
chuckle when I said hi! (Kathe's such a sweetie!)
I'm curious to see the equipment on the wireless. Also to see how many
wireless labs they have running at once, if they have the RF shielded, etc.
If the RF isn't shielded, I can foresee a slew of cheating. (People having
their buddies outside in a VAN, hopping on their networks, etc)
thanks,

Anthony,
Your question was great, along with the other question on the # of ASA
appliances.
Much better than my question on the lab equipment needed for the CCIE
Wireless lab exam! :)

Hello group,
I was not available to watch the CCIE TV event today. Did some of you attend
to it ?
What were the subjects ? Was it interesting ?
Thanks and Regards,
