Wonder if they finally got this fixed in recent code? Perhaps I'll upgrade
my switches and do some playing around this week. In fact, if I get the
time, I'll re-run my tests with current code, document results, and then
upgrade and retest. IF I get some free...

Might be a bug of the IOS, I have configured this in a lab and it worked
as described below.

Subject: VTP question
I apologize if this has been repeated.
Practical Studies: Switching mentions that if a switch is running vtp
version 2 and is transparent then it will forward VTP advertisements
received on its trunk ports even if the VTP domain does not match.
I tested this and it did not work. Then I thought that it might have to
do with having to auto-negotiate the trunk links because DTP was
complaining about the domain mismatch so I forced the links to be trunks
and disabled negotiation but still the VTP messages were not forwarded
by the transparent switch with different VTP domain.
