RE: Repost: Layer 3 diagram

I carried (still carry) a bic-4 color pen everywhere I go!

Like the IE workbooks, I got accustomed to drawing my layer 3 diagram in a
color per IGP, where

OSPF=Blue
EIGRP=Black
RIP=Green
BGP=Red

(there are the R/S routing protocols, so are the colors of the pen)

At the lab, they had like purple and Gold pencils in a cup, but I never used
those much...

So the colors are psychological and should always be used... you really need
quick, clear lines in your head (and on the DIAGRAM) to be able to "spot the
issues".

My preference is to draw the diagram AS you do the IGP, then layer in
BGP/MCAST later on.

There really is no standard, but if it helps feel free to draw subnets and
what not as you go. I really just used my experience with the IE WB's to get
use to drawling...

Thanks Charles. I think I am supposed to prepare the layer 3 diagram before
starting the IGP.
I know that I need to draw the line between the various IGP. Is there any
standard way to prepare the layer 3 diagram.

Thanks again.
