Vlan 7 is behind R1 and R2 right ?

 

That the source of the multicast, we ping from vlan 7 to R4 and R5 interface
which join to IGMP join group command.

 

The traffic will traverse incoming from R3 to R1/R2 (which metric IGP is
better) and back from R1/R2 to R3 interface right ?

 

So it gonna come and go from R3 same interface facing to R1 and R2.

Nope, doesn't need it. Pim nbma mode would be needed if traffic needed to be
sent out the same interface it was received on (in sparse-mode), as is the
case with R5.

hmm...sorry I should have asked about R3 connection to R5...is this on the
same serial interface as the connections to R1/R2? If not, then pim nbma
mode would not be needed

Is R3 using separate point-to-point sub-interfaces for connections to R1 and
R2? That would be my first guess.

The IEWB Workbook told to test a multicast group 224.1.1.1 connection from
VLAN 7 to R4 and R5.

So R4 and R5 ethernet is joining Group 224.1.1.1.

And the solustion also use ip PIM NBMA-MODE on R5 Serial frame-relay
connection.

The Question is, Why R3 connection to R1 and R2 doesn't have to use ip pim
nbma-mode ?

Still confuse when to use Ip Pim NBMA-MOde,

Please need you guys help on this.
