I am one of those EMEA guys (not too many, just 5 out of 60, as I have
heard). Yes, it was tough: I finished the first scenario after 3
hours and a half, so I decided not to take notes, just carefully read
the brief, highlight the interesting parts, quickly read the other
documents, then pay selective attention to documents as I moved
through the questions. So, the second scenario took me 2 hours and a
half and then I finished the third just in time - all that without
having the feeling that I made a bad decision about time management.

Bottom line, it is much to read during the exam - far more than in a
regular CCIE scenario. But this makes sense for a design scenario -
except that in the real life you have by far more time to digest the
information. Otherwise, it was very, very realistic.

Did somebody mentioned that you can actually change the router and
link properties (i.e. sort of high level configuration) in the
"drawing" tasks? This was very cool (and it was not in the demo).

I just wish I red more about QoS, optimal routing design and all the
flavors of MPLS applications. I think I had the experience, but
reading is always useful to clarify some concepts.

Finally, I think that all agreed that it was hard to tell if we did
well or not (err, maybe with the exception of the follow-up questions
asking for the rationale of the previous answer). And I think that
even the CCDE team is considering changing some "right" answers after
the beta :)

There was a fair number of test takers from AP and EAME. If English is not your native language you will need to have a really good grasp of written English or you will be at a disadvantage on this one - a lot of very careful reading needed on this one.
