Whenver you want to get prepared for any CCIE Track, you will almost
always find yourself with two kinds of materials. You would generally select
a vendor based on your time/mood/approach/temprament constraints.
a) Very lab focussed.
b) Semi-Lab Focussed + Make you a better engineer approach (In-depth
technology/blue-print coverage).
You will find Internetwork Expert will top the list in Category b) for
almost all tracks. When I was studying for my CCIE Security I finished
almost whole of the Internetwork Expert Security wokbook. I can honestly
tell you that whatever I learnt in those workbooks, they help me at work
almost everyday. You can find a category a) vendor for the Security track
also i.e. Netmetric. You will find that 30/40% of the super labs are
repeated. Limited set of technology coverage, but it works :). Because its
lab focussed. I find many guys that have their CCIE Security (Lab cleared)
ask questions on the GS Security board that they really won't be asking had
the solved the IE security Full labs :). Category b) also covers you when
Cisco goes about and changes the labs :). For category a) you have to wait
for their 'updates' to be released to proceed further.
Similarly for Voice (I'm working on it right now), you could put Ccbootcamp
on category a). Most people that pass the Voice Track have recommended it.
But preferably you should use a multi-vendor approach to get hold of a
vendor in category b).
