All,
Let's say we have R1-fa0/0 --------ethernet---------fa0/0-R2.
R1:
!
ntp authentication-key 1 md5 CISCO!
Int Fa0/0
ntp broadcast key 1
!
R2
!
ntp authenticate
ntp authentication-key 1 md5 CISCOntp trusted-key 1
!
Int Fa0/0
ntp broadcast client
!
Question is: I have seen some implementations in the real world where the
command "ntp broadcast key 1" is also added to R1 interface. Not sure why. I
have implemented NTP without it and the client syncs and authenticates fine. I
was just reviewing IE V2 lab 10 task 9.2 and there is the command again (only
without authentication). Does anyone know the reason why we would need the
"ntp broadcast" or "ntp broadcast key 1" command on the client side when using
ntp broadcast mode? Having only "ntp broadcast client" seems to be enough.
Thanks,
Mike P.
