I can confirm that as true. I let my CCNP lapse in 2004 and currently
hold an active CCIE (long story). You will have an X inside your cert
status for CCNP in the tracking tool. What will happen if you go decide
to go back and recertify your CCNP by taking every test again is that
they will show your certification date from the date of original
certification (say 2001) to present + 3 years.
