Hi Raul,

It is difficult to understand the cisco quote without the context in
which it was written, but it may have been intended to be a simplified
view. Standing on its own, I would not agree with it myself.

Joe has already pointed out the ability to use priorities as a
difference between the BSR and AutoRP protocols, and I pointed out a few
differences as well. Likewise PIMv1 and PIMv2 also have differences
(different IP protocol number, different destination address, DR
priority etc.).

AutoRP and BSR are used for the same primary task, namely to exchange
information about available RPs and groups each serves. However the
functionality of these protocols is not the same in every respect, and I
don't see how those differences will be balanced out by the addition of
PIMv1 and PIMv2 when doing that simply adds more differences.
