Easy for someone within reasonably close proximity to a lab location to say..
I don't have a problem with the concept of forcing people to lock in,
but my personal circumstances mean I don't know what country I'm going
to be living in when my current lab date rolls around. If I lock in
and pay for my SJ date in January now, but I'm back in Australia in
January, my lab experience just got a whole lot more expensive -- it
would be cheaper to forego the $1,400 odd dollars and re-book in
Sydney.
So, with my personal circumstances in mind, I agree with Tony -- it's
stupid. The only way I can think of to make it "less bad" would be to
allow people to maintain multiple bookings at one time, so at least if
you gave up a lab slot 3 months out, your next one wasn't so far away.
cheers,
Dale
