I believe there is a significant difference between the global and
interface command and thought the DOC CD explained it specifically but I
guess maybe I need to go back and look...and I did...here it is. Check
out the Caution note below.
The interface command will stop the interface from receiving and sending
BPDUs and the global command removes the port fast state from an
interface if is enabled.

spanning-tree bpdufilter
Use the spanning-tree bpdufilter interface configuration command to
prevent an interface from sending or receiving bridge protocol data
units (BPDUs). Use the no form of this command to return to the default
setting.
spanning-tree bpdufilter {disable | enable}
no spanning-tree bpdufilter
Syntax Description
disable
Disable BPDU filtering on the specified interface.

This command was introduced.
Usage Guidelines
You can enable the BPDU filtering feature when the switch is operating
in the per-VLAN spanning-tree plus (PVST+), rapid-PVST+, or the multiple
spanning-tree (MST) mode.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------
Caution Enabling BPDU filtering on an interface is the same as disabling
spanning tree on it and can result in spanning-tree loops.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------
You can globally enable BPDU filtering on all Port Fast-enabled
interfaces by using the spanning-tree portfast bpdufilter default global
configuration command.
You can use the spanning-tree bpdufilter interface configuration command
to override the setting of the spanning-tree portfast bpdufilter default
global configuration command.
Examples
This example shows how to enable the BPDU filtering feature on a port:
Switch(config)# interface gigabitethernet0/1
Switch(config-if)# spanning-tree bpdufilter enable

Subject: Fw: BPDU Filter on the interface vs. global
Hi all,
Doing a IEWB lab (Vol II lab 6) They ask that when a bpdu is received on
one
port, the spanning-tree forwarding delay must be reinstated.
I have enable bpdu filter on the interface, but they did it globally
(spanning-tree bpdu-filter default).
Is there any difference in the interface behavior when the bpdu filter
is
configured globally and on an interface basis ?
I checked the DOC CD but says nothing about it.
Best regards.
