We asked that same question about a year ago, and we buy enough stuff that we
actually got a webex (hate those things) meeting. The nutshell is that the
7600 really is going the "router that can switch" path, whereas the 6500 is
going the "switch that can route" path. By that I mean that the things like
VSS that make sense in a data center/switch closet/whatever switching capacity
will get implemented on the 6500 sooner/better/at all. The features like MPLS
that make more sense on a customer access or border router will end up getting
a deeper implementation on the 7600. The difference isn't that pronounced yet
as you can usually use either one for a general task, but that's changing.
