Hi Nit,

Maybe the following link will answer your question:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk365/technologies_q_and_a_item09186a0080094
9e8.shtml#one

I think it is all about "the preference" how the router works:

For inbound updates the order of preference is:
1. route-map
2. filter-list
3. prefix-list, distribute-list

For outbound updates the order of preference is:
1. prefix-list, distribute-list
2. filter-list
3. route-map

maybe this helps

Regards

Roger

Hi All,

Is there any preferences between the followings for BGP filtering

1.) "neighbour 1.2.3.4 prefix-list NAME in"

and

2.) "neighbour 1.2.3.4 route-map NAME in"

i noticed IEWB answers always go for method2. whereas method1 will be
shorter without a need to create a route-map.

Kind comments please.

Cheers
Nit
